Ford Parkway Bridge, over the Mississippi River


Ford Bridge Redecking 2002-2004
The project includes complete replacement of the deck. The deck section was widened to accomodate four traffic lanes, wider walks on both sides and separate bike lanes. The arches, main piers and spandrel columns were repaired. Construction began  July 2002 and was opened to traffic at the October 2004, a 3 year project. The bridge remained open to one lane of traffic in each direction as well as one sidewalk. Ramsey County and Hennepin County are the joint owners of the bridge.The counties partnered with MNDOT and the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul to complete the project.
