completed last Monday. We are awaiting cure on the concrete and expect to have limited use of the bridge on today. Grading
and paving of the approaches will begin Monday and continue for about two weeks. Xcel Energy and Qwest are presently
working to remove overhead lines and provide permanent underground electric and phone service to Raspberry Island.

Today the Contractor poured approximately 490 cubic yards of deck concrete for the first stage of the deck pours. Next
week the contractor will complete the second stage deck pour to complete the spans. This bridge is a "slab bridge" meaning
that it has no beams in it. The slab is the main structural member. The five spans are 50ft-75ft-75ft-75ft-50ft for a total bridge
length of 325 ft. The slab is solid concrete, 42 inches thick at the piers and 18 inches thick at mid span.

Remaining to be poured are the concrete railings, and colored concrete overlay. Following that will be the ornamental metal
railings and lighting.

June 19, 2001
Forming of the deck is substantially complete. Placement of the deck reinforcement began today.

May
The flood has subsided. Work began on falsework and forming of the bridge deck.

April 2, 2001 Update
The bridge construction is well under way. All piling has been driven. Both abutments have been completed as well as 3 of the
4 river piers. The last pier is scheduled to be poured Wednesday of this week. Spring flooding is a concern. No work may
continue on the deck until the risk of flooding has passed, usually by the end of April.

January 5, 2001 Update -
Bids have been taken and a contract has been awarded for construction of the new Raspberry Island Bridge. Lunda
Construction of Black River Falls, WI was the successful bidder at $1.3 million. Work may begin next week on pile driving
for the river piers and the abutments.

Design
The Raspberry Island Bridge is a five span cast-in-place concrete slab bridge. The deck slab varies in depth from 18 to 42
inches. The deck width is 28.5 feet. The concrete surfaces will be painted a light tan color to harmonize with the colors in the
Wabasha Bridge. The hand rails will be the "St. Paul Rail" design. The lighting will be the St. Paul standard globe style lantern.
The bridge will be the only land link for vehicles and pedestrians. The bridge ties in with the Hariett Island trail system and the
RiverWalk and will be handicap accessable.
